Tracking your water intake is important for several reasons, all of which relate to maintaining good health and optimal bodily function. Here are some key reasons:
-
Hydration: Water is essential for maintaining hydration levels. Dehydration can lead to various health issues like headaches, fatigue, dry skin, and in severe cases, can affect kidney function and cardiovascular health. Tracking water intake ensures that you are drinking enough to stay hydrated.
-
Bodily Functions: Water plays a critical role in various bodily functions. It aids in digestion, absorption of nutrients, circulation of blood, regulation of body temperature, and elimination of waste products. Adequate water intake supports these functions.
-
Physical Performance: If you're physically active, hydration becomes even more crucial. Dehydration can impair physical performance, reduce endurance, increase fatigue, and make you more susceptible to overheating.
-
Weight Management: Drinking water can aid in weight management. Sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger, so staying well-hydrated can prevent overeating. Also, water has no calories, making it a healthy choice for quenching thirst.
-
Skin Health: Adequate hydration can improve skin health. Dehydration can make your skin look more dry and wrinkled.
-
Cognitive Function: Even mild dehydration can impact cognitive functions like concentration, alertness, and short-term memory.
-
Preventing Health Issues: Regular water intake can help prevent health issues like urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and constipation.
Tracking your water intake, especially if you have specific health concerns or are in a climate or situation where dehydration risks are higher (like hot weather, high altitude, or intense physical activity), helps ensure that you're consuming enough water to meet your body's needs. Many people use mobile apps, smart water bottles, or just a simple daily water intake goal to keep track. Remember, individual water needs can vary based on factors like age, weight, climate, and activity level.
To keep track of your daily water intake within the ENRG app;
1. Scroll to the ‘Water’ section on the home screen of the app and open it.
2. Click on the ‘+’ button in the middle of the glass to keep on recording their intake. One click is equal to one glass of water (approximately 250 mL). Along with the amount of water, the time at which the intake is recorded can also be seen.
3. Custom volume of water can also be added by clicking on the ‘Add Custom’ button. Your client can enter the custom amount and click on the 'Save' button.
